First of all, the price tag. There is absolutely no doubt that this mobile will impact the smartphone sales in India. The manufacturer initially said the price would be under Rs. 500 and now, this mobile price is officially announced as Rs. 251.
It also comes with a standard one-year warranty like other handsets in the market. 12 months warranty for the unit, 6 months for charger and battery, and earphone has a period of 3 months from the date of purchase, according to the manufacturer’s website.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikkar will launch the smartphone Freedom 251 today. The launching is in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for “empowering India to the last person, transforming India’s growth story”, the manufacturer, Ringing Bells said.
At such a low price point it really is presumed to disturb the smartphone market in India, when the phone actually delivers on the promise, but it is yet to be seen.
