You have a domain name and the next thing you need to get your website live is hosting. There are overwhelmingly too many hosting providers to choose from. You can find web host services that provide unlimited disk space or bandwidth. It is often common with most companies and other features may vary a little.
Finding a reliable web host can often be difficult for new bloggers. They usually tend to look for best deals and forget the important factors. For my very first blog, I compared hosting services based on the cost of running and eventually, I ended up regretting.
Even if you are new to this topic, I’m sure you must have seen companies providing unlimited disk space and bandwidth for unbelievably cheaper prices. Smaller websites/blogs might consider the price factor. That doesn’t necessarily mean you should go for it. Unlimited web hosting plan has its pros and cons.
- Affordable price
- Unlimited Disk space
- Unlimited bandwidth
These budget plans costs as low as $2.95 per month. A few hosting services offer unlimited hosting for only $0.99 per month. Unlimited plan is recommended for startup websites with low traffic. Once your traffic increases massively, you should probably upgrade to VPS for better performance.
Unlike VPS, you don’t need to have any knowledge whatsoever to manage the website. You can easily install popular web software in just minutes. Whether it is WordPress or an online store.
- Bad neighborhood
- Security concerns
One of the disadvantages with unlimited plans is the limitation on number of files hosted. It could be a concern for user submitted sites. Many web hosts usually limits number of files to 300, 000 and allow exceeding files with additional cost. It’s called “fair usage limit”.
Another problem with unlimited plans is loading time. Your websites slows down when the RAM usage exceeds. That generally happens for shared hosting users. If you are an e-commerce website, you might lose potential buyers. It is proven that visitors leave the site with loading time of 4 seconds or higher.
Going for monthly plan instead of paying annually can be helpful in the beginning. You will have the flexibility to switch to another company if any problems arise. Nobody wants to get stuck with a bad hosting company. Bad hosting plans not only affects your blog but also your SEO strategy.
I recently stumbled upon a blog that wrote an interesting article for choosing hosting plans on monthly basis. They explained this topic in detail and not just that, they wrote amazing articles from choosing domain names to getting them ranked.
I spent few hours reading few articles and I thought I should share it with our readers. You might find it very useful.
